Last night I went to the @dallasdemocrats office for a gathering of people who had put in time volunteering for the election. To be honest, it was quite cathartic to be surrounded by people who are on the same side of history as me. It was a nice combination of shared horror (“WTF Matt Gaetz?!”) and chatting with women who were much more optimistic than me (“Honey, we can’t give up. I’ve been protesting for 40 years!”)

On the stages of grief, I’m somewhere in between depression and acceptance. Where are you at?

The best thing to come out of this election cycle?

The best thing to come out of this election cycle? New friends! I volunteered over the past several months at the @dallasdemocrats office, helping to get out the vote for @kamalaharris and @colinallred. And while those efforts were unsuccessful, I met these amazing, like-minded ladies along the way. 🥹❤️

We scheduled tonight’s dinner before Election Day, hoping it would be a night of celebration. Instead, it was a night of commiserating, reflecting, and strategizing how we’ll get through the next four years with our mental health intact. If you’re worried about that too, hit me up. Montréal has been absolutely amazing, but I’ve been most impressed by how walkable (and cycling friendly) it is — especially compared to Dallas, which gets a solid 0 out of 10 in that department. I couldn’t help but stop along my runs to take pics of the amazing pedestrian paths. 😍

Stopped by @playtridfw yesterday after brunch with some triathlete friends. I needed a new pair of cycling gloves — I realized recently that my last pair was cut off of me in the ER 🙃 — and walked out with the gloves AND this cute triathlon visor. It was perfect for today’s long run!

I bought my @feltbicycles tri bike from @playtri last year, and it was such a great experience. And now every time I stop by, the owner Ahmed makes me feel like family. #highlyrecommend

✨New achievement unlocked✨I pushed myself out of the pool today! No swimming over to the ladder. Just pushed myself out of the pool, off the side of the pool deck like I used to do in the before times. 🥹 I didn’t have the wrist strength or flexibility to be able to do it for a long time, but after tonight’s swim, I decided to give it a try. Success! 🎉🙌

Shoutout to @strava and their maps feature! 🙌 It makes it so easy to route runs when traveling. This weekend I found the best paths - along rivers, on trails, and past monuments. And the fact that the weather was perfect didn’t hurt either.

Shout out to @clintrhodes who is heading to the start line this morning for the Marine Corps Marathon! 🙌 He’s put in so much work over the last several months. I’m so proud! 🥹

✨New achievement unlocked ✨ Rode my bike outside for the first time since having my tri suit cut off of me in the ER! It was only scary for a few minutes and then it came right back to me. 🙌

✨New achievement unlocked! ✨I took a hot yoga

✨New achievement unlocked! ✨I took a hot yoga class today with some friends from work and was able to do 99% of the weight bearing moves on my wrist! 🎉 The only thing I couldn’t do was a side plank pose with my left hand on the mat, but I put a knee down and it was just fine. 🙌 There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. 🥹
